Sofia Vergara Playfully Fires Shots at Jodie Foster Over Golden Globes Victory

Sofia Vergara jokingly lashes out at Jodie Foster for her Golden Globes win

Sofía Vergara brought laughter to the 2025 Golden Globes with her reaction to losing yet another nomination to Jodie Foster.

The 52-year-old star of “Griselda” stole the moment during Foster’s acceptance speech for the Best Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture-Television award for her role in HBO’s True Detective: Night Country.

Sofia Vergara’s frustration over losses to Jodie Foster

As Foster, 62, approached the stage to receive her award, Vergara leaped up and humorously exclaimed, “No! No! Not again!”

This playful outburst prompted laughter in the crowd, and Foster acknowledged her with a knowing smile, replying, “I know.” Vergara chimed in with a humorous request, “Give me one!”– showcasing her light-hearted approach to the ongoing award losses.

Unbothered, Foster made a point to recognize Vergara in her speech.

“The best part about being this age and in this moment is having a community like this, especially you, Sofia,” she mentioned, gesturing to the Colombian actress in attendance.

The friendly competition between the two has developed over the years.

Last year, Vergara lost her Emmy nomination for Griselda to Foster, who won for the same role in True Detective: Night Country.

During that time, Vergara humorously declared in an Instagram post, “Me lo robaron” (“They stole it from me”), highlighting her ability to handle disappointments gracefully.

Foster’s recent accolade marks her fifth win at the Golden Globes.

During her acceptance speech, she expressed gratitude to her family, saying, “To my boys, Kit and Charlie, I love you, and this, of course, is for you. And to the love of my life, Alex, thank you forever.”

Vergara continues to be a beloved figure.

In Griselda, she portrayed the notorious Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco, receiving praise for her remarkable transformation into the character.

Even though she hasn’t won a Golden Globe yet, Vergara’s infectious energy and comedic flair shone brightly throughout the event.

Foster’s role in True Detective: Night Country has been a highlight of this awards season, while Vergara demonstrates her wide-ranging talents on screen, solidifying her position as one of the industry’s most captivating performers.
