A Thai YouTuber’s Journey to Vietnam’s Da Trang Pass
On a recent motorbike adventure in Vietnam, Thai YouTuber Sittidet Srito was captivated by the strikingly white landscapes of Da Trang Pass, likening it to snowy scenes from Europe.
Sittidet Srito, a well-known Thai YouTuber with nearly 370,000 followers, often showcases his travel journeys. In December 2024, he and his wife set out on a motorbike trip from Hanoi, passing through various provinces like Hoa Binh, Son La, Lai Chau, and Ha Giang.
He praised the stunning natural beauty of Vietnam, emphasizing that riding a motorbike allows for a deeper connection to the diverse terrains.
While heading to Mai Chau in Hoa Binh, they were particularly taken with Da Trang Pass, a site they found exceptionally memorable.
Situated more than 1,000 meters above sea level, Da Trang Pass is located along National Highway 6, linking the Tan Lac and Mai Chau districts in Hoa Binh Province. This pass, approximately 120 kilometers northwest of Hanoi, is often termed the “Nordic hill” for its breathtaking, snow-like vistas.
The unique white landscape is attributed to limestone fragments from road construction that coat the area in a powdery appearance.
At a viewing spot on the pass, Sittidet expressed wonder at the scenery, reminiscing about European films with snow-covered settings.
“There’s a large rock formation where you can climb for fantastic views. This place is oddly beautiful, as white as snow,” he noted.
The couple also savored traditional Vietnamese street foods at the base of the pass, including grilled corn, bamboo-cooked sticky rice (cơm lam), and grilled pork.
Sittidet was delighted by the taste and affordability of the dishes, mentioning that the grilled corn was fragrant and cost only 10,000 VND (about 15 Thai baht).
He complemented the grilled pork as well, remarking on its perfect seasoning suited for the chilly weather.
Recalling his visit on December 7, 2024, around 4 PM, Sittidet described the weather as pleasantly cool.
“The Da Trang Pass view genuinely amazed me. It resembled snowfall in Europe,” he reflected.
Sittidet shared that his initial visit to Vietnam was two years prior, and he has since made several trips due to his admiration for the country’s landscapes, culture, and cuisine.
He has explored many regions, including Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Thuan, Lam Dong, Hanoi, Ha Giang, Son La, and Lao Cai.
“I adore Vietnam and have been studying Vietnamese for two years. I intend to keep learning to connect better with this beautiful nation and its people,” he expressed with enthusiasm.
