Their four grown children include John William “Jack” Carter, James Earl “Chip” Carter III, Donnel Jeffrey “Jeff” Carter, and Amy Lynn Carter, along with 22 grandchildren and great-grandchildren in total.
Jack Carter, the oldest, was born in 1947 and participated in politics, running for a U.S. Senate seat in Nevada in 2006.
Chip Carter, born in 1950, held positions with the Democratic National Committee and led the Friendship Force, an international exchange initiative.
Jeff Carter, born in 1952, co-founded Computer Mapping Consultants and has three sons with his wife, Annette.
The youngest, Amy Carter, born in 1967, grew up in the White House and later became involved in activism.
The Carter family faced significant challenges, including Jimmy Carter‘s transition to hospice care in February 2023 and Rosalynn Carter‘s dementia diagnosis in November 2023. Sadly, Rosalynn passed away on November 19, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones.
The Carter grandchildren have explored diverse careers, with some, like Jason James Carter, entering politics as a state senator in Georgia and others, such as James Earl Carter IV, working as an opposition researcher.
