The renowned Altadena estate, known for its appearances in various films and television programs, was among the properties impacted as flames swept through neighborhoods, including Pacific Palisades and Eaton. The 19th-century residence had a long-standing presence in Hollywood and was the backdrop for HBO’s popular series Hacks, among other productions.
The mansion also appeared in the 2001 movie Kingdom Come and an initial episode of Entourage. Its storied past traces back to the silent film days, featuring in Max Linder’s comedic piece Seven Years Bad Luck from 1921.

Recent images showcased the once-stately home consumed by flames, leaving nearly nothing but ruins. Constructed by Andrew McNally, co-founder of Rand-McNally, the estate had shifted ownership several times, with its latest sale occurring in 2021 for $3 million.
“It’s devastating,” expressed Hacks locations manager Scott Kradolfer. “We completed filming for the fourth season there, but we were uncertain if Deborah Vance could return to that iconic rooftop.” The house significantly featured in the series, marking the journey of Jean Smart’s character as she attempted to revive her career as a fading comedian.
