The Friendship Between George Clooney and Donald Trump Is Beyond Repair
Former President Joe Biden wasn’t the only one who seemed displeased with George Clooney’s article in The New York Times. Donald Trump also expressed his dissatisfaction, given Clooney’s allegiance to the Democratic Party while he represents the Republicans. Trump took to Truth Social to criticize Clooney, stating, “So now the so-called actor George Clooney, who has never been part of a great film, is joining the conversation. He’s turned on Crooked Joe, just like the rats they are,” he remarked.
Clooney dismissed the drama when he visited “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” a few months afterward. “He’s a huge admirer of mine,” Clooney joked with Kimmel, who has also made his stance on Trump quite clear. However, the tension didn’t dissolve there. It may have paused temporarily, but in March, Trump reignited their dispute after Clooney openly criticized his administration during a segment on “60 Minutes.”
The following month, Clooney participated in an “Actors on Actors” session with Patti LuPone, where he claimed that Trump would eventually fade away. Clooney remarked, “The authoritarian figure is temporary; they leave eventually. He will also be gone.” He further added, “We will persevere, and history shows that we eventually reconnect with our better nature. This has happened before.”
