Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are filled with joy as they commemorate a significant event in their family’s life: the graduation of their 22-year-old daughter, Carys.
The duo shared their excitement on social media, posting heartfelt messages and vibrant photos from the weekend celebrations held at Brown University, a renowned Ivy League school situated in Providence, Rhode Island.
In a touching Instagram moment, Zeta-Jones shared an image of herself and her 80-year-old husband planting kisses on Carys‘ cheeks.
“The eve of graduation!!!! We are both incredibly proud parents right now!! This is just the beginning!!” the star of Chicago penned alongside the lovely photo.
The beautiful Carys sported a sophisticated full-length white gown and posed playfully, while Douglas appeared dapper in a navy suit, and Zeta-Jones looked exquisite in a tailored black ensemble.
Carys, who graduated with a degree in Film and International Relations, is the youngest child of the Hollywood couple, who tied the knot in November 2000. The celebrating continued on Zeta-Jones‘ Instagram stories as she shared snapshots from the festive weekend.
One image highlighted a congratulatory cake that read, “Congratulations Graduation Class of 25,” while another showed Carys delightfully posing with her peers on the university steps, adorned in their caps and gowns. The actress also posted heartfelt clips of her daughter embracing fellow graduates and taking photos with friends, perfectly encapsulating the celebratory atmosphere.
A proud milestone as their youngest spreads her wings
This graduation represents yet another milestone for Douglas and Zeta-Jones, as Carys steps into a new chapter. Their son Dylan, 24, also graduated from Brown in 2022. Additionally, Douglas has a 46-year-old son, Cameron Douglas, from his previous union with Diandra Luker, from whom he divorced in 2000 after 18 years.
Reflecting on parenthood later in life, Douglas once expressed to AARP The Magazine in 2010 how his priorities shifted with children.
“My career was my top priority, followed by marriage and then kids. Now, it’s the opposite. I never expected the joy of starting a family and raising children at my age,” he shared.
