Actress Erin Moriarty, famously recognized for her portrayal of Starlight in ‘The Boys’, revealed her diagnosis of Graves’ disease. This condition stems from an immune system issue that primarily affects women under the age of 40. The disease leads to excessive production of thyroid hormone, known as hyperthyroidism, which can result in symptoms such as weight loss, tremors, vision disturbances, irregular heart rate, and overall fatigue.
In a heartfelt Instagram update, she shared her struggles: “This autoimmune condition reveals itself in unique ways for each individual. Your journey will differ from mine, and vice versa.”
“I can confidently say that if I hadn’t misattributed my symptoms to stress and fatigue, I would have caught it much earlier. A month ago, I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease. After just 24 hours of medication, I felt a renewed sense of energy and it has only improved since then,” she added.
“If you feel even a slight change, don’t hesitate to seek medical advice. Don’t just endure or assume you can push through; prioritizing your health is essential. Life is challenging enough without unnecessary discomfort,” she advised.
She also shared a discussion with her mother about the illness
Along with her post, she included several images, including screenshots from a conversation with her mother: “I genuinely need some relief. Tonight has been tough. I feel so disconnected from myself, and this is not how I want to exist long-term.”
“I don’t experience even a brief moment of feeling normal. It’s more than just fatigue; it’s a desperate call for help that permeates my entire being, and I’m unsure how much longer I can endure this,” one message reflected.
In a later message, she expressed a much more positive outlook: “I can already sense a significant shift. Now I wonder, ‘Is this really how I’m meant to feel?’ I’ve been missing out on so much!“
