The Met Gala 2025 kicked off with a dazzling display of celebrity style on the red carpet at the renowned MET in New York. This year’s theme was ‘Superfine; Tailoring Black Style’, while the suggested dress code was ‘Tailored for You’.
This theme celebrates the impact of African culture on fashion and humanity.
This year, notable appearances included celebrities like Anna Wintour, Bad Bunny, Colman Domingo, and seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, who stunned in an outfit designed by Wales Bonner.
This year, Hamilton also served as one of the gala’s co-hosts alongside A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour.

Hamilton sported a chic buttoned silk shirt with a bow tie, paired with an ivory suit. His accessories included a stunning art deco brooch embellished with gold, diamonds, rubies, and pearls, which echoed in the pearl curtains on his trousers.
A simple white beret from Stephen Jones Millinery completed the look, along with vintage 1980s jewelry by Briony Raymond.
The ensemble featured a baobab brooch, diamond earrings, and gemstone rings, each thoughtfully chosen to embody elements of African cultural heritage. Additionally, the suit was adorned with cowrie shells, significant symbols of protection in African culture.
The designer shared with ‘Vogue’ that the suit incorporates numerous cultural influences, linking it to the event’s theme: “Lewis’s look draws from various inspirations, including Barkley L. Hendricks’s paintings and black spiritual attire, combined with our brand’s craftsmanship,” she noted.
The Ferrari driver explained that his outfit aimed to honor the sophistication and confidence of black dandyism. His stylist, Eric McNeal, emphasized that every element of the outfit tells a story of pride and resilience.
