Nearly seven months have passed since his untimely death, and now Liam Payne ’s substantial estate has finally been addressed.
The 31-year-old singer tragically died after a fall from a third-floor balcony at the Casa Sur Hotel in Argentina on October 16 last year. His estate totaled $32,490,000, which, after settling debts and expenses, amounted to $27,600,000.
There was considerable discussion about who would inherit his wealth. Many speculated it could be his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, especially after she expressed her wish to marry him.
However, legal documents indicate that Liam had given ex-partner Cheryl Tweedy, the mother of his eight-year-old son Bear Grey Payne, the authority to manage his estate. Additionally, music attorney Richard Bray is mentioned in the context of pursuing criminal charges against individuals implicated in Liam’s death.
Three individuals face homicide charges related to the case: the hotel manager, a receptionist, and a friend of Liam’s, as reported by the Argentine National Prosecutor’s Office for Criminal and Correctional Matters.
Given UK inheritance laws, Cassidy will not benefit from the estate since it will likely go to the closest blood relative, which is Bear. It is expected that those funds will be placed in trust for him.
Liam’s Musical Journey
Payne first auditioned for “The X Factor” in 2008 but was advised by Simon Cowell to return when he was older. He returned two years later and was not selected as a solo performer but became a member of One Direction.
Along with Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan, the band was formed in 2010, and their song “What Makes You Beautiful” launched their successful career as one of the most renowned boy bands.
After Zayn’s departure in March 2015, the group continued until announcing a hiatus in March 2016. Within a year, all members, including Liam, released solo singles, with Liam debuting his solo career with “Strip That Down” on May 19, 2017. They collectively released one studio album “LP1”, two EPs, and 14 singles.
