Scottie Pippen, renowned for his prowess on the basketball court, made headlines on May 8 as he stepped back into the spotlight after more than five years.
The former NBA star attended the Hidden Empire Sports & Content (HESC) gala organized by Hidden Empire Films and The Union, taking place in Los Angeles.
This event was particularly significant, as it was part of a collaboration with the Sundance Institute aimed at showcasing emerging athlete storytellers.
Pippen’s attendance highlighted his strategic return to public life, promoting a new documentary while subtly redirecting attention to his well-known family.
Transitioning from athlete to storyteller
The HESC event aimed to shine a light on athletes making the leap into storytelling and media, equipping them with the necessary tools and platforms to share their authentic narratives. This vision aligns seamlessly with Scottie Pippen‘s ongoing projects.
He was seen alongside former NBA player and media figure Matt Barnes, known for his popular “All The Smoke” podcast.
Pippen is collaborating with Hidden Empire Films on a documentary focused on the “Game 5 Ball,” a significant item from his Chicago Bulls career. The project director, Deon Taylor, even shared photos of Pippen from the gala on Instagram, affirming his participation in the venture.
This red carpet appearance adds to Pippen’s recent gradual return to the public eye, following a hiatus that began after his last major public events in 2018, during which he prioritized family and personal matters.
Interestingly, his reemergence coincides with rising discussions around his ex-wife, Larsa Pippen, particularly regarding her new relationship with younger partner Coby. They were recently spotted together in Miami, and Coby even hinted at plans for a wedding in 2025 when approached by paparazzi.
“We’re tying the knot in November 2025. It’s going to be a beautiful ceremony,” Coby announced.
