Taylor Swift enthusiasts are on the lookout again, speculating that she might surprise everyone at the 2025 American Music Awards scheduled for May 26.
The buzz started when Swift’s merchandise store unveiled a new banner stating “Apparel, Music, Accessories, Sale,” which fans quickly connected to the initials A.M.A.S., mirroring the awards show title. They believe it’s more than just coincidence.
The AMAs will be broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+, and will be hosted by Jennifer Lopez, drawing in many stars. Nonetheless, Swift’s nominations keep her as a key attraction, with six nods including Artist of the Year and Album of the Year.
Even with these nominations, Swift has maintained a low profile this spring, reportedly enjoying time off with boyfriend Travis Kelce. Recently, they were spotted celebrating Mother’s Day in Philadelphia with Kelce’s mother, Donna, and sister-in-law Kylie Kelce.
Fans speculate on Swift’s appearance
In late 2024, Lively accused director and co-star Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment. This led Baldoni to file a defamation and extortion lawsuit. The situation intensified when Baldoni’s team issued a subpoena for Swift, even though she was minimally involved with the film.
A representative for Swift informed PEOPLE: “Taylor Swift never appeared on the set… She had no role in casting, editing, or scoring and only saw the film weeks post-release while touring.”
Lively’s team criticized Baldoni and co-producer Steve Sarowitz, claiming they turned a serious harassment case into sensational media coverage. They described the proposal to livestream Lively’s deposition or host it for charity at Madison Square Garden as “disrespectful and demeaning.”
According to Lively’s rep, “This is a serious legal issue, not a circus. The defendants keep intimidating and shaming women under false transparency.”
On another note, rapper Kendrick Lamar tops the AMAs with 10 nominations, including Album of the Year (GNX) and Song of the Year (Not Like Us), highlighting a competitive rivalry with Drake. He will go up against Swift, Billie Eilish, Post Malone, and others for major awards.
Regardless of whether Swift shows up as a surprise at the event, the buzz around her and the surrounding drama remains at the forefront of news.
