General Secretary To Lam’s Meeting with Russian Scholars
This morning in Moscow, General Secretary To Lam held a meeting to express gratitude to Russian scholars and experts who have supported Vietnam over the years.
He highlighted the unwavering spirit of the Soviet people as a beacon of hope that enabled the Vietnamese to overcome significant challenges in their fight for national liberation.
Emphasizing the importance of remembering origins, he stated that Vietnam is deeply appreciative of the support it has received from Soviet and Russian experts.
General Secretary To Lam pointed out that essential projects established with this support, such as the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant and Thang Long Bridge, symbolize the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Additionally, he noted that Russia has provided training for nearly 70,000 Vietnamese officials, many of whom have ascended to high leadership roles within the Party and the State, contributing to Vietnam’s development across various sectors.
He mentioned that recent high-level agreements between Vietnam and Russia set strategic directions for enhancing their bilateral relationship, ushering in a phase of more substantial cooperation.
To that end, he suggested focusing on economic integration, effectively pursuing joint projects in traditional areas, and exploring each other’s markets to broaden trade options and investments in promising new ventures.

General Secretary To Lam expressed optimism that the Vietnam-Russia partnership could serve as a model for harnessing regional potential for the benefit of all countries involved.
He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts in fields like basic science, technology, and digital transformation, which are crucial for Vietnam’s future growth.
Moreover, he expressed confidence that the youth of both nations would honor their shared history and innovate new successes, revitalizing Vietnam-Russia relations.
Later, General Secretary To Lam met with Gennady Zyuganov, Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.
He congratulated the party on its significant achievements and acknowledged its essential role in Russia’s political landscape.

He expressed faith that the Russian Communist Party will continue to wield influence in the country’s political realm and contribute to its growth. The continuous leadership of the party in the global communist movement was also recognized.
General Secretary To Lam reaffirmed the Communist Party of Vietnam’s commitment to fostering its traditional friendship with the Russian Communist Party, noting that their relationship is fundamental to the broader Vietnam-Russia partnership.
This cooperation is all the more significant as Vietnam embarks on a new chapter of reform and development, where inter-party relationships will play a critical role in strengthening global communist movements.
Chairman Zyuganov welcomed the advancement of party-to-party relations and highlighted a pivotal agreement from January 2024 aimed at deepening collaboration.
Both leaders agreed to actively implement this agreement, promoting exchanges and sharing insights between their respective parties while supporting affiliated organizations.
