A concerning video has emerged, depicting secondary school students in Makurdi, Benue State, stranded in heavy rain to greet President Bola Tinubu during his visit.
The students were observed singing the national anthem by the roadside while being doused with water from passing vehicles.
This visit by Tinubu comes in light of recent violent incidents that have left many Benue residents in mourning.
The poignant footage featuring the students was shared on X.
Here are some responses:
@Trhymesz: “Eventually, Nigerians will recognize their rights and reclaim their country from these oppressive leaders. Until then, they will keep experiencing mistreatment from their indifferent rulers.”
@Jaysings001: “They are even standing on the roadway! I was under the impression today was a holiday?”
@j94626377: “If my children were part of that group, I would immediately transfer them to another school. This is unacceptable.”
@MESIGO422: “He’ll pass by without a second thought. A person clears their busy schedule just to greet 200 individuals suffering under his administration.”
@ToniRhymze: “Many of these children will return home unwell, but it seems illness is nothing new for the state government.”
@NasOricha_: “True leadership should embody compassion and timing. Having children stand in the rain after such a tragedy in Benue sends a disturbing signal. We need leaders who are caring, not just show up.”
@obadarabi: “You should already be wise to how things operate, Rinu. Stop complaining daily and take action if it truly concerns you.”
