The Nigeria Police Force has reported the detention of five individuals suspected of arms trafficking across borders, along with the seizure of an array of weapons.
In a statement released on Friday, Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi informed that the arrests were executed by the operatives of the FID-IRT on November 18.
The detainees have been named as Adamu Noma, Matthew Audu, Andrew Poyi, Aminu Sani, and Aminu Talha.
According to Adejobi, the search following their arrest resulted in the recovery of “10 locally made AK-47 rifles, 5 Israeli AK-47 rifles, 1 revolver pistol, 1 pump-action shotgun, 20 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, and 1 welding machine employed for rifle fabrication.
“These accomplishments, alongside numerous others achieved by police units nationwide, demonstrate the dedication and resolve of the current police leadership to combat criminal activities and enhance security in the country.”
