A Nigerian woman named Braimoh Blessing Evelyn bravely shared her experience of being left with a twin pregnancy after her boyfriend allegedly abandoned her to move to the UK.
In her messages dated Saturday, September 28, 2024, Evelyn recounted her relationship with Kola, who was a lecturer at Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State. They started dating in 2019, and she believed they had a future together.
In 2022, Kola told her that his visa had been approved, but when Evelyn revealed her pregnancy, he advised her to terminate it, stating he wasn’t prepared to be a father, effectively severing all communication with her.
After giving birth to twins via cesarean section, she attempted to contact him, but he ignored her messages. Evelyn shared: “Today I decide to share my story about how my boyfriend left me with a twin pregnancy after getting a visa to the UK.”
“I fell for him, believing we might end up together. He spoke of his plans to move abroad for better opportunities, and when he got his visa, I was happy for him and inquired about our future. Instead, I learned I was pregnant.”
“He suggested I terminate the pregnancy, expressing no desire to participate in parenthood. Despite my pleas about the risks involved, he dismissed them casually, suggesting I use pills.”
Unbeknownst to her, she was expecting twins. During the nine months of her pregnancy, she never heard from him as she faced health challenges that kept her hospitalized frequently.
She faced a tough delivery and was relieved when she finally saw her children, yet Kola remained silent, not even responding to her update. Afterward, Evelyn experienced financial distress, and despite her mother’s efforts, they struggled to cover hospital bills.
Feeling overwhelmed, Evelyn reached out to Kola for help, showing proof of their situation, but he still did not reply, leaving her in despair. A doctor advised her to focus on taking care of her children, encouraging her not to rely on Kola.
After managing to gather some funds, they were discharged from the hospital. Evelyn named the twins and took care of them herself. When she contacted Kola’s brother for assistance, she found herself blocked by Kola on all platforms.
As the months passed, her children turned one year old. Evelyn sent Kola an update, but again received no response, which affected her emotionally.
A concerned elder suggested she find Kola’s family for support, prompting her to take a loan and travel to where Kola’s family lived.
When she arrived and sought out his brother, he initially took them elsewhere and informed Kola about Evelyn’s visit. However, Kola reacted negatively, insulting her and denying any responsibility for the children.
Evelyn rejected his offer of marriage and stated her intention for Kola to support their children. After a heated exchange, she blocked him and deleted all traces of him from her life.
