Wale Adedayo
Wale Adedayo, the former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government in Ogun state, has been given the green light by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to partake in the primaries for chairmanship aspirants set for Saturday. The announcement was made through a statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Afolabi Orekoya on Wednesday.
Orekoya mentioned, “Hundreds of aspirants from the 236 Wards and 20 Local Governments of Ogun State obtained the party’s nomination forms and underwent screening for eligibility to compete in the Local Government Elections happening in November.
“Among those screened at the Party Secretariat in Abeokuta was the former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Chief Wale Adedayo who is vying for the Chairmanship position in Ijebu East Local Government’.
“The party has set Thursday, 5th, and Saturday, 7th September as designated dates for the Councillorship and Chairmanship Primary Elections across the 236 Wards and 20 LGs.
“Members of the party are encouraged to peacefully participate in the primaries in their respective wards to choose the councilors and chairmanship candidates they prefer”.
It is worth noting that Adedayo, who transitioned from a journalist to a politician, served as the Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government under the All Progressives Congress until his impeachment in August last year following accusations against Governor Dapo Abiodun of mismanaging N10.8bn local government funds. The state government strongly refuted Adedayo’s claims, considering them unfounded.
