Petrol Price Jumps to N925 in Lagos, N955 in Southeast Now

MRS Hikes Petrol Price To N925 In Lagos N955 In (via Primetweets)

MRS has raised the retail cost of petrol in Lagos to N925, an increase from N885 that took effect Friday morning.

This adjustment in MRS petrol pricing followed a hike in the ex-depot price set by Dangote refinery, which moved from N825 to N880 on Friday.

In a message shared via their X account on Saturday, MRS announced that the price of petrol would be N955 per litre in the Southeast region.

For customers in Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, and Ekiti, the new price will be N935 per litre.

As per the announcement, customers in the North East will pay N955 for petrol, whereas those in the North West and North Central regions will see a price tag of N945.

The retail chain advised its customers to review the “revised pump prices at all MRS outlets nationwide,” clarifying that these prices took effect on June 21, 2025.

According to The PUNCH, MRS is a key distributor of products from Dangote refinery.

There are expectations that other partners of Dangote, such as Heyden and AP, will also implement price increases shortly.

The PUNCH previously reported that importers had raised their prices in response to the surge in crude oil costs.

In a statement made on Monday, Festus Osifo, president of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, denounced oil marketers for taking advantage of Nigerians with inflated petrol costs, asserting that the current prices should ideally be between N700 and N750 per litre.

He criticized the inconsistency between decreasing global crude oil prices and the stagnant retail petrol prices in Nigeria.
