On Sunday, June 8, a tragic bombing incident in Gwabro village, located in the Tangaza Local Government Area, resulted in the deaths of six individuals.
This grim confirmation came from the Sokoto Police Command.
Police spokesperson Ahmad Rufai verified the casualties but withheld further specifics regarding the blast, which coincided with the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
An eyewitness, known as Hashimu, reported that the explosion occurred in the afternoon.
According to Hashimu, many were traveling between villages to celebrate and visit loved ones, a customary practice during Eid, when the blast took place.
Garzali Raka, an aide to the chairman of the Tangaza Local Government, stated that the victims had been interred in line with Islamic traditions.
Village sources suggest that the explosive may have been planted by the Lakurawa terrorists, who have been a source of fear for residents of the Tangaza and Gudu local councils.
Community members expressed concerns over the ongoing terror inflicted by the Lakurawa group, calling on the government to take decisive action to restore peace and security in the area.
