Gunmen have kidnapped a minimum of 10 travelers on the Owo-Benin road within the Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The victims were en route from Akwa Ibom to Akure when the attack occurred.

According to reports from DailyPost, an anonymous source revealed that the driver mistook the assailants for law enforcement officers until they began firing into the air.

“The kidnapping took place on the Owo-Ipele road around midnight on Saturday. The vehicle was halted and the passengers were forcibly taken into the forest, where their whereabouts remain unknown,” the source stated.

“The attackers set an ambush and seized all the persons in the vehicle. Since then, no information about their condition has surfaced.”

In contrast, Funmilayo Odunlami, the police spokesperson in the state, reported that only seven individuals were abducted.

“We have been informed about a vehicle attack along the Owo/Ifon route, suspecting the abduction of seven individuals,” she explained.

“The seven travelers were traveling in a commercial bus from Akwa Ibom state. Our officers are actively working to locate the victims and apprehend those responsible for the crime.”
