Visa Application Centre in Abuja Shut Down for Extortion

FCCPC Seals Visa Application Centre In Abuja For Alleged (via Primetweets)

On Thursday, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) took action by closing a visa application center in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, due to accusations of misconduct involving the exploitation of applicants.

The Daily Post reported that the visa application center, situated within Metro Plaza in the Central Business District of Abuja, was supposedly involved in inappropriate practices specifically targeting those seeking visas.

Sources indicated that the FCCPC had made several requests for the center’s management to provide explanations, but those requests were repeatedly ignored.

A formal communication from the Commission’s Head of Legal Services, Nsitem Chizenum, was sent to the TLS Teleperformance Company Visa Application Center, urging the management to attend a meeting at the FCCPC office at 2 PM on Friday.

The letter demanded that the “company present all necessary documentation and testify regarding its failure to respond to a complaint, as well as any actions that may have obstructed the commission’s investigation, as outlined in section 110 of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission Act 2018, and to remain available until resolved”.

In the meantime, all applicants and staff members of the center were cleared from the site, which has now been officially closed off.
