A 23-year-old woman, Rabi’a Labaran, has been taken into custody for allegedly fatally stabbing her co-wife in the Daura Local Government Area.
The arrest was made by the Katsina State Police Command.
According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, this incident occurred near Dadi Primary School in the Sabon Gari area of Daura town, following a domestic dispute that escalated dangerously.
“On May 24, 2025, around 11pm, a report was filed at the Sabon Gari Division by Nasir Yusuf, the husband. He returned home from the market only to find his first wife, Zainab Lawal, 30, lying in a pool of blood after suffering multiple knife wounds,” stated the announcement.
“Following this report, the DPO quickly assembled a team and arrived at the location, where the victim was promptly transported to the Federal Medical Centre in Daura, where she was later declared dead by the attending physician.”
“During the inquiry, Rabi’a Labaran, 23, who shares the same residence, was apprehended in relation to the crime. She confessed that a conflict with the victim turned into a physical altercation, resulting in the tragic event. Investigations are ongoing.”
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, emphasizes the importance of avoiding domestic violence and encourages individuals to pursue legal avenues for resolving disputes, highlighting that vigilantism only contributes to further harm and disrupts the legal system.”
