Bayern Munich clinched the 2024/25 Bundesliga title at the beginning of May when Bayer Leverkusen settled for a draw against SC Freiburg. The team celebrated their victory with a 2-0 triumph over Borussia Mönchengladbach on May 10.
This marked the first title under manager Vincent Kompany and the inaugural trophy for star forward Harry Kane.
The English striker was instrumental in assisting Bayern Munich’s return to the top, especially after a third-place finish last season.
At 31, he is the leading contender for the Bundesliga top scorer accolade, showcasing remarkable consistency for the newly crowned champions.
Yet, much to the astonishment of fans, club legend Lothar Matthaus chose not to include Kane in his 2024/25 Bundesliga Team of the Season.
Matthaus nominated four players from Bayern Munich: Dayot Upamecano, Michael Olise, Joshua Kimmich, and Jamal Musiala, excluding Kane entirely.

For his attacking lineup, Matthaus opted for Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy and former Eintracht Frankfurt striker Oman Marmoush. However, both currently have a lower goals per 90 minutes rate than Kane.
Impressive statistics for Harry Kane in 2024/25
Kane has netted 25 goals and supplied seven assists in 30 Bundesliga matches this season, topping the scorer list, while Dortmund’s Guirassy follows in second with 20 goals. It seems unlikely that Guirassy will surpass Kane for the award.

If Kane secures the trophy, he will become the first player in the Bundesliga’s history to win the top scorer title in his first two seasons.
He had previously won the award with 36 goals, although he was unable to help Bayern Munich to the title last year.
This season, Kane is on track to register the most goal involvements in the Bundesliga, currently standing at 32, which includes his seven assists.
Bayern Munich remains unbeaten in league matches where Kane has taken the field. During his time in the starting lineup, the champions have recorded 22 victories and six draws.
According to Statmuse, Kane has achieved a rate of 0.94 goals per 90 minutes. Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick leads with 1.04, while Guirassy at 0.72 and Marmoush at 0.93 trail behind him.
