Chelsea is actively exploring all options to enhance their roster as they prepare for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the USA next week.
Recently, the club acquired Liam Delap from Ipswich Town and is now focusing on finding a wide attacker for the squad.
Enzo Maresca’s side has been rumored to be pursuing Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.
As reported by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea has set a cutoff time of Tuesday at 7 PM UK time to finalize a deal for the English international.
Should they fail to secure Gittens by that deadline, Chelsea is anticipated to shift gears and consider alternative targets.
Possible Alternatives to Jamie Gittens for Chelsea
Fabrizio Romano also mentioned that Chelsea remains keen on Alejandro Garnacho and might revisit this option if they cannot secure Gittens by Tuesday.
He commented: “It’s certainly an option since Garnacho is likely to depart Manchester United. Sources suggest his priority is to remain in the Premier League.”
“I assess the chance of this happening at around 35% as of now; considering the timing with the Club World Cup approaching, Gittens is the main focus, although Garnacho is still highly regarded by Chelsea.”
