Defender Presses for Liverpool Move After Personal Terms Secured

Arne Slot gives honest opinion on Liverpool

Liverpool’s summer transfer window has been quite eventful. The club has successfully secured three significant signings, with another expected to follow soon.

The squad has welcomed prominent talents such as Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez to Anfield. However, the Premier League champions are not finished yet.

Negotiations for a contract extension with Ibrahim Konate have hit a snag, despite his crucial contribution to their league title win last season.

Reports from Spain suggest that Real Madrid is interested in acquiring the French defender, leading him to consider running down his contract to team up with Trent Alexander-Arnold in Madrid.

In response, Liverpool is proactively planning their defense and have set their sights on Crystal Palace captain, Marc Guehi.

The 24-year-old has just one year remaining on his contract, putting Palace in a position where they may need to sell.

According to recent updates from Nicolo Schira, Guehi has agreed on personal terms with Liverpool and is prepared to finalize a five-year deal with the club.

He is reportedly eager to move to the English champions, as Liverpool works to finalize arrangements with Crystal Palace.

What will Liverpool spend on Marc Guehi?

Previously, Crystal Palace had placed a £50m [$68.6m] valuation on their captain, who led the team to victory in the FA Cup final against Manchester City last season.

However, sources say Liverpool is reluctant to meet Palace’s high asking price for Guehi, preferring to negotiate a figure closer to £30-40m.

With just a year left on his contract, Palace faces pressure to sell the 24-year-old, or they risk losing him for free next summer.

Recently, Liverpool offloaded Jarrell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen for £35m, including a buyback option.

As a result, they are keen to bolster their defense and enhance their squad depth.

Guehi’s experience in the Premier League and regular contribution to the England national team would make him a more effective option for Liverpool compared to Quansah.

With Virgil van Dijk aging and uncertainty surrounding Konate’s future, Guehi could prove to be an essential addition should the transfer go through.
