Former Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has shared his thoughts on the club’s choice to part ways with Ange Postecoglou following their Europa League triumph. The French player dedicated 11 years to Tottenham before joining Los Angeles Football Club.
Lloris was part of the squad that finished as runners-up in the 2019 Champions League and is celebrated as one of the club’s top goalkeepers throughout its history.
Hugo Lloris’ thoughts on the recent club developments and victory
Speaking to the press ahead of LAFC’s Club World Cup match against Chelsea, Lloris expressed admiration for Postecoglou and described the trophy win as an “incredible achievement,” according to The Guardian.
When questioned about his reaction to Tottenham’s decision to dismiss Postecoglou, he responded, “Yes, but at this point, not much surprises you anymore.”
“He deserves significant recognition for his coaching success, and we should all be thankful for what he has contributed, especially with this trophy,” he added.
The Europa League victory marked the end of a 17-year wait for a trophy for the north London club.
Lloris expressed his joy over the win against Manchester United and hopes it will positively impact the players. He remarked, “I am really pleased for the club. We pursued this trophy for many years, and finally, they achieved it, which they fully deserve.”
“This victory should alleviate some pressure for the future, and I believe it’s a pivotal moment for Spurs to build on this success. Even though I’m not part of the Spurs team anymore, I continue to keep up with their news and results.”
