Liam Delap has quickly made his mark at Chelsea. Following an assist for Enzo Fernandez in his debut match, the young talent scored his first goal for the club in just his second appearance.
Given his impressive start, Delap’s position in the team seems assured for now, especially with Nicolas Jackson suspended for the next Club World Cup fixture and the opening game of the upcoming Premier League season.
His recent performances have drawn widespread acclaim from fans and analysts alike, with Gary Lineker being one of the latest to praise him.
Lineker likened Delap to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, suggesting that he has the potential to emulate the iconic Ivorian striker’s legacy at Stamford Bridge.
He also noted that Delap could take on a significant role in the England national squad once Harry Kane steps back from international duty.

A comparison to Drogba is perhaps the greatest compliment a Chelsea forward can earn, and Lineker has readily given that to Delap.
