Inter Miami is preparing to face Egyptian team Al Ahly in their opening match of the Club World Cup on June 14 at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida.

Before the tournament kicks off, Inter Miami’s head coach, Javier Mascherano, expressed his views on what he called ‘a major opportunity,’ emphasizing that the team, led by Lionel Messi, is focused on ‘aspects within their control’ (comments sourced from News18).

“This is an extraordinary competition, and we feel honored to be a part of it. Our achievements last year have brought us here, and I see this as a significant chance to evaluate our strengths,” he noted.

“We trust FIFA’s experience to ensure optimum conditions, but as I always say, we must focus on what we can manage,” Mascherano continued.

The Argentine coach also provided an update on his team, revealing that Jordi Alba and Yannick Bright will be ‘out’ for the upcoming game.

What did the Inter Miami coach say regarding Messi’s teammates?

Mascherano confirmed that both Alba and Bright will miss the match, with the hope that they can return for the subsequent game.

“Jordi and Yannick won’t be available for this match, but we hope to have them back for the second one. Naturally, we would have preferred a fully fit squad, as that would enhance our strength,” he stated.

Alongside Al Ahly, Inter Miami, Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, and FC Porto are placed in Group A for the Club World Cup. Messi and the team will face the Portuguese club in their second match, scheduled for June 19.
