Newcastle United is rapidly taking steps to ensure the long-term commitment of midfield talents Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali amidst escalating transfer interest.
According to TBR Football, the club aims to eliminate the £100 million buyout clause from Guimaraes’ contract, which was established last year. Although the amount is substantial, team officials are wary of it being activated.
Manchester City is recognized as significant admirers, and their financial power as former Premier League and European champions presents a genuine challenge.
Guimaraes was acquired by Newcastle for £33 million in January 2022, with potential additional costs based on performance.
Since then, he has become central to the team’s dynamics and was appointed as captain at the beginning of this season. The club views him as an essential figure in Eddie Howe’s leadership at St. James’ Park.

The report also indicates that Newcastle is contemplating a new contract for Sandro Tonali. After sitting out the previous season due to a betting suspension, Tonali has been impressive this year.

His performances have drawn attention from Inter Milan and Juventus, who have expressed interest in bringing him back to Italy.
Nevertheless, Newcastle is reportedly looking to reward Tonali, who made a £55 million move from AC Milan in 2023, with a five-year deal.
