According to The Sun, Brighton & Hove Albion have set their sights on Elliott as a key target and believe that a transfer fee near £40 million could persuade him to leave Anfield.
Brighton views him as a valuable asset and envisions him fitting seamlessly into Fabian Hurzeler’s dynamic, attacking style. Elliott’s ability to operate centrally as well as out wide adds to his versatility.
Despite being a lifelong Liverpool supporter, Elliott realizes that the addition of Wirtz thickens competition in an area where he might have played, making a move to another club beneficial for gaining more match minutes.
In addition to Brighton, Nottingham Forest has shown interest in the adaptable winger. The 22-year-old has proven his worth at the Premier League level and could be a smart acquisition for mid-table teams.
Harvey Elliott’s thoughts on his future
Earlier this month, Elliott discussed his prospects at Liverpool. Although he celebrated winning another league title with his childhood team, he expressed uncertainty about what lies ahead.
Having joined Liverpool’s youth academy from Fulham in 2019, he has strived to make his mark. However, his playing time last season totaled just 822 minutes as others garnered more opportunities.
With the influx of new players, his chances of getting on the pitch could diminish further if he remains at Anfield.
“It’s a matter that I need to discuss with the team because I’m reaching an age where I’m 22, turning 23 next season. I don’t want to waste years in my career since it’s quite short and unpredictable,” Elliott remarked during his international duty with the England U-21 squad.
“I need to evaluate my situation, determine if I’m happy with my current role, and focus on how I can grow as a player since that’s what’s most crucial. If that means considering other opportunities, I’ll need to weigh that decision and see how things unfold.”
“I have no desire to leave. I cherish the club, the fans, and the whole team. However, what ultimately matters is making the right choice for my career.”
While Elliott has immense potential and a loyalty to Liverpool, allowing him to move this summer could appear necessary for his development.
