Chrissy Teigen Applauds Women Who Don't Want Children: "It's a Choice"

Throughout her pregnancy and following the birth of her daughter, Chrissy Teigen has been very open about her struggle with IVF and postpartum depression. Now, the multi-hyphenate is opening up about why motherhood shouldn't be expected from every woman, despite her personal decision to embark on that journey.

In an interview with Refinery29, Chrissy spoke to people who may be on the fence about having children. After the interviewer said she was unsure about the decision herself, Chrissy replied, "Well, first of all, I want to commend you in your decision to be open about maybe not having children at all. I think it's really commendable to even doubt the process out loud, because I don't feel like people should be pressured to have children." She added, "I've never been that way with people, because I don't think any of us should assume all women's goals are to have kids. It's a choice!"

That being said, Chrissy said she was certain she wanted to be a mom. On the other hand, she too had common doubts and fears. "I have to say, even when we did the IVF process, and then actually conceived, I looked at John and was like, 'Oh my god, is this right? Were we just jumping into this?'"

Chrissy's comments are not only refreshing, but are also reassuring for many women who have questioned motherhood and its certain effects on their lives.
