Meet the Star-Studded Cast of Life Itself, aka This Is Us The Movie

If you're a This Is Us fan, you're in for a real treat this Fall: you'll get the chance to watch the show's third season and indulge in creator Dan Fogelman's latest film, Life Itself.

The drama-packed teaser and its sad indie track already let us know that the movie is going to be an emotional rollercoaster, so stock up on your tissue supplies! Similar to how the stories in This Is Us stem from Jack and Rebecca, the events in the film circle around Will and Mary, who are played by Oscar Isaac and Olivia Wilde.

Isaac and Wilde aren't the only major stars in the movie, though. The cast is seriously star-studded, boasting talents like Annette Bening and Samuel L. Jackson. Until we're finally able to watch the movie in September, here's the scoop on everything we know about the cast members and their characters

Olivia Wilde

Olivia Wilde (who will always be known for her role as Thirteen on House) plays Mary, who is one half of the couple that the film revolves around. From the teaser, we see that she is very pregnant . . . just like Rebecca in the pilot of This Is Us. Will she encounter something similar to Rebecca's tragic and complicated fate? We'll just have to wait and see.

Oscar Isaac

Alongside Wilde, the Annihilation and Star Wars actor takes on the role of Will, the other half of Life Itself's main couple. He appears smitten with Mary, but we later see him tearing up as he talks to someone who appears to be a therapist in the trailer. We're on the edge of our seats because we already see something big and tragic coming up for this couple.

Olivia Cooke

The Bates Motel actress will play an important role in the upcoming tearjerker, given how much trailer time she gets. We don't have a lot of details on Cooke's role, but according to the trailer, she is a scarlet-haired rockstar who shares a close relationship with Mandy Patinkin's character. She may possibly be Will and Mary's daughter, given that the movie spans across multiple generations.

Annette Bening

Oscar nominee Annette Bening takes on the role of Dr. Kate Morris in Fogelman's latest project. The trailer suggests that she is a therapist of some sort for Oscar Isaac's character.

Antonio Banderas

There's not a lot of details out there on who Antonio Banderas plays, but he appears to be a friend or relative to Sergio Peris-Mencheta's character. Banderas's filmography is no mystery, though. Viewers will recognize him from his work in films like Mask of Zorro and Assassins.

Mandy Patinkin

Again, the details are scant for Mandy Patinkin's character. He appears to be a father figure to Cooke's rockstar character. You might recognize him from Homeland, The Princess Bride, and most recently, Wonder.

Laia Costa

Laia Costa

The Spanish actress is best known for her leading role in the German thriller film Victoria. She joins the cast of Life Itself as a character named Isabel.

Àlex Monner

In the trailer, we see Monner running with a piece of paper and smiling at a library. Given that he's a younger character, he might be Olivia Cooke's romantic interest. Monner is known in Spanish television for his lead role as Lleó in the Catalan comedy-drama series Red Bracelets (not the U.S. adaptation, The Red Band Society).

Sergio Peris-Mencheta

Clues in the trailer suggest that Peris-Mencheta shares a strained relationship with Banderas's character and is something of a family man, possibly the father to Monner's character and husband to Laia Costa's character. Though most of his work is in Spanish film and television, American audiences may recognize Peris-Mencheta from the FX show Snowfall.

Samuel L. Jackson

We don't see Samuel L. Jackson in the current teaser, but set pictures from Life Itself suggest that he's a witness to an accident. The American actor needs no introduction he's been in many critically acclaimed projects.
