Josh Brolin to Lead Amazon Drama Outer Range

With his time as the titan madman Thanos at an end at the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Josh Brolin (Avengers: Endgame) has found his next project in the form of the upcoming Amazon drama Outer Range with Brad Pitt (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood0 attached to executive produce, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Created by Brian Watkins, the series will follow Royal Abbott (Brolin), a Wyoming rancher fighting for his land and family who discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of the Wyoming wilderness.

Outer Range was picked up to series earlier this year as part of an overall creative deal with Pitt’s Plan B banner, with Watkins also attached to executive produce the project alongside Zev Borow, Heather Rae and Brolin. The series marks the first series for both Watkins and Borow, the former a New Dramatists playwright who will see their latest play debut this fall at Lincoln Center Theater and also wrote the pilots Kansas City for Hulu and Amblin and Love is Dead for USA Network.

Watkins is also currently adapting the feature The Assassination of Bangwain Spurge for Annapurna and is set to produce the pic Ultraluminous with Steven Soderbergh (High Flying Bird), Jennifer Fox (Velvet Buzzsaw) and Platform One.

RELATED: Ryan Reynolds Says He’s Working on Deadpool 3 For Marvel StudiosBrolin will next be seen in Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming adaptation of Dune alongside Timothée Chalamet (The King) and Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), which is set to hit theaters on December 18, and recently wrapped production on Flag Day opposite Sean Penn (Milk) and Miles Teller (Top Gun: Maverick). He was set to reprise his role of Cable for a Deadpool spin-off X-Force movie at Fox, but following the Disney-Fox merger, the project has been put on hold while Marvel Studios is working with Reynolds to introduce the Merc with a Mouth into the MCU.
