Will Smith’s slap at the Oscars 2022 will forever go down in Acadamy Awards infamy. Chris Rock made a G.I. Jane joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia, resulting in Will’s slap. Unfortunately, the slap has put a lot of potentially unwanted attention on the couple’s kids, Willow Smith and Jaden Smith. And they haven’t said much about the incident. Here’s why Will Smith’s children continue to keep quiet.

What have Willow Smith and Jaden Smith posted about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars 2022?

Willow Smith and Jaden Smith haven’t said much after Will Smith’s slap at the Oscars 2022. Directly after the event occurred, Jaden tweeted, “And That’s How We Do It.” Aside from this tweet, he hasn’t spoken out about how his father’s actions impacted him or the rest of the Smith family.

As for Willow, she hasn’t posted anything directly related to the slap. She flooded her Instagram with content regarding her new music video with Camila Cabello. On April 2, she tweeted, “Life is a series of reactions,” which could be related to her father’s slap. She didn’t elaborate further.

On March 29, 2022, Jada posted on Instagram with the text, “This is a season for healing and I’m here for it,” but she hasn’t commented publicly aside from this. A source alleged Jada believes her husband overreacted to Chris Rock’s joke. “It was in the heat of the moment, and it was him overreacting,” a source told Us Weekly. “He knows that, she knows that. They’re in agreement that he overreacted.”

Why Willow Smith and Jaden Smith haven’t said much about the slap

Willow Smith and Jaden Smith often speak out about the world around them, and some of their followers are surprised by how little they’ve talked about Will Smith’s Oscars 2022 slap. So, why haven’t they said more?

An insider told Us Weekly that the Smiths believe staying “tight-lipped” and letting time heal is the best way to move forward. “They know the best course of action is to stay tight-lipped,” the insider explained. “The only healer is time.” This means Smith-followers shouldn’t expect the family to say much more about the incident until months, or maybe even years, pass.

“It’s been a nightmare for everyone,” the source also noted. “Will knows the road to redemption is going to be a long and painful one, and there’s a part of him that’s grown to accept he’ll never be able to fully repair the damage that was caused.”

While Willow Smith and Jaden Smith remaining tight-lipped might help the Smith family move forward, Will Smith continues to face repercussions for the Oscars 2022 slap. According to CNN, Will has been officially banned from the Academy Awards and other Academy-held events for 10 years.

“The Board has decided, for a period of 10 years, from April 8, 2022, Mr. Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards,” Academy President David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson stated.

“I accept and respect the Academy’s decision,” Will told CNN.
