Elon Musk Released a Song Called ‘Don’t Doubt Ur Vibe’, Just When You Thought Things Couldn’t Get Any Worse

In the off chance you needed any more evidence that we are already living in the dystopia, and/or the universe’s worst timeline, wait no longer. Founder of the companies Tesla and SpaceX, the publicly-strange billionaire Elon Musk, has written a song, produced it, and unleashed onto the world. Early in the morning of Jan. 31, 2020, the world got a little bit bleaker, thanks to Musk’s new EDM bop, “Don’t Doubt ur Vibe.”

Engineer-turned-entrepreneur Elon Musk tweeted recently that he had written a song with “Emo G Records.”

“Just wrote a song called ‘Don’t doubt yer vibe,'” he wrote.

“I wrote the lyrics & performed the vocals!!” Musk bragged on Twitter.

But in a stunning turn of events, the “yer” turned into “ur” overnight. Like some kind of local rapper whose Tweet just went viral, Musk shared his new single via SoundCloud. The tech giant posted a series of horrifying tweets in reference to the new song, including his own lyrics to “Don’t Doubt ur Vibe,” separated by ellipses.

“Be … cause … it’s … true,” Musk wrote. Deep!

“Vibbbe,” he captioned another tweet, which included pictures of Musk in the studio, dropping sick beats.

Sure, it’s cool you made a song, but we can’t help but wonder: should anyone over the age of 45 use the word “vibe”? We leave it up to discussion, but it feels bad and wrong.

As Cheat Sheet is not Pitchfork, we submit this very non-scientific music review of “Don’t Doubt ur Vibe.” (So you never have to hear it, if you don’t want to).

The song is fine. The beat is catchy. The singing, if you can call it that (it sounds more like auto-tuned talking, but what is music, really, you know?), is strange. It’s a bit unsettling, to be honest.

The lyrics are not too advanced; “don’t doubt ur vibe,” repeats ad nauseam.

Then comes this winner of a line: “don’t doubt ur vibe, because it’s you.” You know, it is believable that Elon Musk wrote these lyrics.

“Don’t Doubt Ur Vibe” is not a terrible song, no matter how badly we want it to be. But we do have trouble getting past the spelling of “ur” in the title. And the fact that this song exists at all.

Why did Elon Musk, who has a lot going for him otherwise, write a song?

We can’t help but ponder who the audience for Elon Musk’s song is: young, aspiring engineers and physicists? Entrepreneurs and dreamers?

Because Musk is certainly not spreading the message of “don’t doubt ur vibe” to his own employees who are in favor of unions; last year, Musk “violated federal labor laws by punishing or attempting to dissuade employees who wanted to organize a union.”

Whose vibe, then, does Musk want to make sure doesn’t get shrouded by doubt?

The answer to this question is probably about as deep as the lyrics to “Don’t Doubt Ur Vibe.” So, feel free to carry on in this dystopian existence and remember this concept, which Elon Musk invented: never doubt ur vibe.
