Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness — set to explore different realities, dealing with a fractured world resulting from Wanda’s fractured mind or multiple timelines forged during Avengers: Endgame — is quickly becoming the most highly-anticipated MCU Phase 4 film. Different theories surrounding the narrative, as well as the characters set to appear in the upcoming movie, continue to sprout up all over the internet — across fandom boards, digital publications, social media, and more.

Rumor had it that Magik was set to appear in the installment, becoming one of the first X-Men characters to appear in the MCU. From possible character appearances — ranging from Fox’s X-Men to Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man — to nearly implausible plot trajectories, the presence of the multiverse has kept the leaks and presumptions diverse. Theoretically), the multiverse’s existence, in and of itself, creates limitless possibilities and opens the doorway for boundless creative pursuits. However, a recent theory suggests that, following the events of Endgame and WandaVision, a few specific characters are bound to join the party in Doctor Strange 2.

The Cosmic Wonder — boasting 520 thousand subscribers on YouTube — recently leaked a story from Mikey Sutton, a DC and Marvel insider who recently spilled some intel concerning Strange’s upcoming appearance. According to Sutton, Strange may be trying to form The Illuminati, and he will call upon entities previously under Fox’s ownership to lend a hand.

‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ and the need for The Illuminati in the MCU

The Cosmic Wonder explains why Doctor Strange will need to form a new alliance to protect the Earth from threats it has never seen (and is not yet prepared for):

There are dimensions beyond which are known to man, and there is one MCU superhero who specializes in journeying into these twilight zones. In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Marvel studios dives headlong into the psychedelic reality warps of Steve Ditko (Doctor Strange), aiming for the otherworldly terrors of H.P. Lovecraft. Involving extra-terrestrial landscapes that the Avengers are not accustomed to, Doctor Strange will need a group of new guardians that will protect the earth from the portal that the Scarlet Witch ripped wide open for the otherworldly terrors to invade our planet.

The outlet goes on to explain that there will be a group of people — powerful and highly intelligent — skilled enough to take on the threats that will come to endanger Earth and its inhabitants:

According to inside sources close to Mikey Sutton, Doctor Strange will end up forming The Illuminati, a secret organization of highly intelligent and powerful individuals at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This mysterious collective will include Reed Richards AKA Mr. Fantastic of the Fantastic Four and Professor X of the X-Men.

In Short, Doctor Strange will be confronted with a dilemma; after Scarlet Witch fractures reality, he will need assistance defending the planet from those she lets in. He will need to correct the grand mistake she has made, and he won’t be able to do it alone.Â
