Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye will reportedly appear in a post-credits scene in Black Widow. The film is Scarlett Johansson’s first stand-alone project as Natasha Romanoff, who gave her life in Avengers: Endgame to help defeat Thanos (Josh Brolin). With Black Widow expected to be Natasha’s final film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hawkeye’s scene will reportedly tie up some loose ends related to her death in Endgame.

Marvel delays ‘Black Widow’ premiere

Over the past few months, Marvel has slowly released more and more information about Johansson’s first stand-alone outing. Although we still do not know who is playing the movie’s main villain, other aspects of the plot have been flushed out.

Unfortunately, Marvel was forced to delay that the premiere of Black Widow because of the coronavirus pandemic. Movie theaters around the world are closing to help prevent the spread of the virus, and Black Widow is one of many films that have been delayed as a result of the measures.

Depending on how things go over the next few weeks, there is a chance that Marvel releases the movie on Disney+. But more than likely, fans will have to wait until later this year to see Johansson return to action.

While we wait for more details to emerge, inside sources claim that Black Widow will feature multiple post-credits scenes, including one that has a direct link to Avengers: Endgame.

Inside Hawkeye’s secret post-credits cameo

We still do not know too much about Renner’s cameo in Black Widow, but it sounds like he will play an important role in filling in the gaps of Natasha’s story arc.

An inside source told We Got This Covered that Renner’s Hawkeye will have a cameo in one of the post-credits scenes. The source claims that the sequence will show Hawkeye and his family visiting Natasha’s grave following the events in Avengers: Endgame.

Black Widow is set between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War and is not expected to explore anything related to Natasha’s death. If the information is accurate, Hawkeye’s cameo would help tie up some loose ends with Natasha’s story in Endgame.

The source also noted that the other post-credits scene features a conversation between Yelena (Florence Pugh) and Thaddeus Ross (William Hurt). The sequence will apparently reveal that Yelena has been working with Ross this entire time, setting up another storyline for a future project.

Why didn’t Natasha get a proper farewell in ‘Endgame’?

One of the puzzling aspects of Natasha’s death in Endgame was how she was not given a proper memorial service. The film paid tribute to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), who also gave his life, but his funeral seemingly left out Natasha.

Endgame directors previously revealed that they did not include a memorial for Natasha because she was getting her own film. If the leak is correct, then fans will finally see a member of the Avengers pay tribute to her sacrifice.

Marvel has not confirmed the reports surrounding Hawkeye’s involvement in Black Widow. Hopefully, there is some merit to the leak, and we will get to see one of Endgame’s biggest plot holes fixed.

Everything we know about ‘Black Widow’

While we wait to hear more on Black Widow, the final trailer for the film shed some light on the movie’s villain, Taskmaster. Not only did the clip reveal that Taskmaster is the leader of the Red Room, but it also showed that the character has mastered several fighting styles.

In the comics, Taskmaster has the ability to mimic an opponent with near-perfect accuracy. In the trailer, we see the villain studying some of Natasha’s classic moves, as well as styles of Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Captain America, and Hawkeye.

The trailer did not reveal anything more about the identity of Taskmaster, leaving fans to speculate about who is donning the mask. There has been plenty of speculation that one of Natasha’s associates is secretly Taskmaster, though it is possible that Marvel kept the casting tightly under wraps.

Black Widow was scheduled to premiere in theaters on May 1. Marvel has yet to announce when the movie will be released.
