Though all three of the films received mixed to negative reviews, Cavill became well-known for his version of Superman.

After the DC films, he starred in Mission: Impossible – Fallout as August Walker, an antagonist in the movie. In 2020, he’ll star with Millie Bobbie Brown and Helena Bonham Carter in Enola Holmes. Cavill currently stars in Netflix’s The Witcher. The world-building series has often been called the next Game of Thrones. The series is based on novels and short stories by Andrzej Sapkowski.

The first season of the show jumped between multiple timelines, with each one focusing on a different central character. Series creator Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said the timeline was modeled after the film Dunkirk. 

In the show, Cavill portrays Geralt of Rivia. Anya Chalotra and Freya Allen round out the core three as Yennefer of Vengerberg and Princess Cirilla.

After spending a lot of time bringing out three characters together, their stories finally intertwine at the end of the season.

Fans of the show are in luck. The Witcher has been renewed for a new, second season, but the show won’t go back into production until later this year and is set for a 2021 return.
