Though “Chicago Justice” was canceled in the spring after one season, Jon Seda isn’t dismissing the NBC courtroom drama just yet.

“You never want to see a show fail, but I don’t really think it failed. For whatever rhyme or reason, it just had the one season. But it’s interesting, you know, (creator) Dick Wolf is so creative and really loyal, and you see some of the actors from ‘Justice,’ you’ll see them still around, so ‘Justice’ might not have gotten another season, but it’s still kind of in the mix,” Seda said Monday at a media event for Wolf’s Chicago-set shows.

Seda, 47, played Antonio Dawson on “Chicago Fire,” the first series in Wolf’s Chicago franchise. The character became a mainstay on “Chicago P.D.,” the second show in the franchise. Seda then moved to “Chicago Justice” when it premiered in March as the fourth series in the franchise. (“Chicago Med” is the third.)

NBC canceled “Chicago Justice” in May, and Seda returned to “Chicago P.D.” for its fifth season, which premiered in September.

Seda called the move “a little bittersweet” but said “it really is a joy to come back.”

The career shift wasn’t Seda’s only change of plans this year. He had trained to run the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Oct. 8 but was sidelined with plantar fasciitis, which causes heel pain. He hopes to toe the line at next year’s marathon.

“I’m going to try,” he said.

Season 5 of “Chicago P.D.” airs at 9 p.m. Wednesdays.
