Gwyneth Paltrow has definitely lowered the odds of a comeback to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Academy Award winner was a pivotal figure in establishing the MCU as Tony Stark's business partner-turned-life partner Pepper Potts, who most recently made the jump into super heroics herself as Rescue in Avengers: Endgame.
But it looks like the battle against Thanos will be the last fans see of Pepper. On the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 5), Paltrow made a surprise statement when E! host Ryan Seacrest asked how her producer husband Brad Falchuk got her to star in Netflix's The Politician.
"I'm sort of semi-retired from acting a bit because I have a company [Goop] that I do," she revealed. "I'm Gooped from head-to-toe but [Falchuk was] very charming."
Paltrow had previously admitted that Avengers: Endgame would probably be her final Marvel appearance after 11 years in the cinematic universe.
"I mean, I'm a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point," she joked.
Her long-time co-star Robert Downey Jr had seemingly also retired from the MCU after Endgame, though it has since come to light that Tony Stark will appear in the prequel movie Black Widow.
There have also been hints that Tony Stark or Iron Man could factor into a future episode of Marvel and Disney's What If? animated series, yet it remains to be seen if RDJ will lend his voice.
Avengers: Endgame is out now on DVD, Blu-ray, 3D, 4K and digital download.
