Munteanu Up For Marvel’s “Shang-Chi”?

A reliable source here in Sydney has reported to Dark Horizons that “Creed II” star and professional heavyweight boxer Florian Munteanu has apparently scored a secondary villain role in the upcoming Marvel Studios feature “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”.

The project is filming in the first half of the year in Australia’s biggest city at the Fox Studios complex (now owned by Disney) ahead of “Thor: Love and Thunder” taking over the complex in the back half. There has been no other confirmation of this casting report though so treat it as a rumour for now. An e-mail sent to a Disney U.S. rep the other week asking for confirmation or denial was not responded to.

Munteanu, who played Viktor Drago in the “Creed” sequel and scored raves for his work, has his own social media channels which confirms he has been in Australia since late January. Munteanu appears to have arrived around the same time other cast members from the film like Awkwafina and Tony Leung Chiu-wai were also spotted around town with Secrets of Eternals reporting that some shooting took place in Centennial Park behind the Fox Studios complex early last month.

In October last year came a report at MCU Cosmic indicating that while Tony Leung’s Mandarin will be the primary villain of the movie, other baddies from the comics like Tiger-Claw, Moving Shadow, Razor-Fist, and Ghost Maker could appear as the film is said to in part revolve around an underground fight tournament – so Shang-Chi would be facing off against several opponents.

“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” is scheduled to hit cinemas February.
