Here Are The Snacks Everyone Orders On 4/20

Today is 4/20, the one day cannabis fans can really let loose and get their smoke on without fear of judgement (which is total bullshit considering all studies that say alcohol is worse for you, but alas…). If you don’t know the history, 420 is the police code for weed. Many years ago (1971 to be exact) in San Rafael, California, a group of like-minded individuals who called themselves the “Waldos” (because they frequently leaned against the wall while they smoked pot) decided that they would search for a supposedly abandoned cannabis crop at 4:20pm one day.

The friends never found the weed (probably because they didn’t have a time-traveling bong), but they did start a tradition — smoking at the same time every day. The number soon reached cult status when it was mentioned in an article in High Times Magazine.

You may not have known that little nugget of history, but you probably do know about the munchies. Snacking and weed just go together. Like napping and weed. We asked goPuff — an on-demand delivery service that caters to the munchie crowd — about the most popular snacks ordered on 4/20 last year.

10. Kit Kats

You can’t go wrong with a classic chocolate bar like Kit Kat. Wafers and chocolate work in perfect unison to make this unique candy as much fun to snap apart as it is to eat. You don’t need any fancy nuts, nougat, or peanut butter when you have Kit Kats.

9. Ben & Jerry’s Tonight Dough

No list of munchies could possibly be complete without ice cream. This flavor was made to pay tribute to Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon and has everything any toker could ever want from caramel and chocolate ice creams, chocolate cookie swirls, chocolate chip cookie dough, and even peanut butter cookie dough.

8. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

Honestly, we’re surprised these little pieces of heaven aren’t higher up on the list. They are simple and perfect. Peanut butter and chocolate together at last. There are few things better than the first bite of a Peanut Butter Cup. The only way to kick them up a notch is by swapping them in for Hershey’s bars in s’mores.

7. Flamin’ Hot Cheetos

Prior to these spicy, cheesy treats, this list had been comprised completely of chocolate-based products. But, you can only have so much chocolate before you need a change of pace. These Cheetos definitely aren’t for everyone, but their fans are borderline fanatical and they’ve even spawned a Taco Bell menu item.

6. Nerds Rope

These, little, sour, tangy candy pebbles are perfectly paired with a gummy rope to form a truly unique taste combo. Somehow it works.

5. Haribo Gummi-Bears

If you’re going to eat Gummi-Bears, you can’t just settle for any brand. Gummy candies begin and end with Haribo. No other gummy snacks will do if you’re really an aficionado of the candy style. These cute candies come in multiple flavors, including: lemon, orange, pineapple, raspberry, and strawberry.

4. Cheez-Its

Since Cheetos already made this list, it’s about time Cheez-Its joined the party too. These cheesy, toasty crackers are extremely addictive. Even a whole box probably won’t last very long around a group of people suffering from a case of the munchies.

3. Swedish Fish

Swedish fish are shrouded in mystery. Why can’t we stop eating them? What gives them their flavor? Why fish? My head hurts.

2. Sour Patch Kids

Prepare for a raw mouth after five, stoned handfuls.

1. Ben & Jerry’s Half-Baked

There couldn’t possibly be a more aptly named #1 snack. The famed ice cream makers tongue in cheek ice cream was pretty much made for people with the munchies. With chocolate and vanilla ice creams, chocolate chip cookie dough, and fudge brownies what’s not to love?
