This Titans casting news is pretty literally “out of this world.”
TVLine has confirmed that Damaris Lewis — who appeared in a pair of Season 2 episodes as Koriadn’r aka Starfire’s Tamaranean sister aka Blackfire — has been promoted to series regular status for Season 3 of DC Universe‘s flagship series.
Lewis’ upgrade should of course come as little surprise to those who have already watched Titans‘ sophomore finale, which released on Nov. 28. (Spoiler alert ahead!) As seen in a final “bonus” scene, a mild-mannered mom had just tucked her kids into the car and loaded their groceries into the trunk when a glob of space goo splatted on the side of her neck. Moments later, the woman transformed into a smirking Blackfire — akin to how Tamaran’s not-so-beloved queen previously used royal guardsman Faddei (Robbie Jones) as her host, during an earlier visit to Earth.
Other Titans casting questions, however, remain to be resolved in the wake of said finale, given what happened to at least three characters who died, seemingly perished or left town. (Read our recap; TVLine readers gave the finale an average grade of “B-,” while Season 2 as a whole earned a “B.”)
Reports of Lewis’ upgrade previously surfaced on Geeks Worldwide. The actress’ previous credits include FX’s Pose and the Spike Lee film BlacKkKlansman, where she played a Black Power revolutionary named Odetta.

I was really hoping for Yetide Badaki as Blackfire, she and Anna look so much alike but either way, I’m happy for this! Blackfire is so bad ass
Seconded. Or even Olunike who guested on the show felt more on the mark to me, but Damaris did a great job for the approach they went with.
Titans is too much of a mess in general though for it to really matter either way.
They better bring back Esai Morales as Deathstroke. A simple sword thrust through the abdomen could never ever kill him. It should not even have him knocked him out. The man has superhuman healing powers that rival Wolverine for gods sake.
Remember when in “The Wolverine” Shingen stabbed Logan through the chest with a katana ? Logan simply pulled it out and was fine. And that is pretty much what Deathstroke would do if someone would run him through with a sword. He should have been back on his feet five minutes later. It is not like Rose stabbed him through the heart or slit his throat.
So they better bring Slade back in Season 3 or this would be the most lame, unworthy, stupid death in superhero TV history.
i dont think you get human body. their tons of ways to slow down wolv or death stroke. you base the attacks on how the human body handles certain damage.
I’ve watched the scene in question 4 times..and it looks to me as if Rose stabbed him through the heart. The entry point was lower down in the abdomen, but the angle was upwards. I thought at first the sword must have been left in but that wasn’t the case.
I made this comment earlier but it got removed for some reason. This is a cool bit of news BUT it’s not an exclusive. A website called “Geeks World Wide” (GWW) broke this story on 14 November, over 2 weeks ago. See link [EXTERNAL LINK REMOVED BY SYSTEM]
I did look into this and Warner Bros. TV has no record of confirming any such story for said website. But a notation/link has been added!
Matt, I hate to break it to you but something does’t need to be confirmed to break a news story about a TV series. What? You guys are not censoring comments from posters and only TV Guide and TV Line gets to break this news? I run an anime site and I always get firsthand information on news stories relating to anime long before the legit news sites get that information. I find your “excuse” to be disingenuous. TVLine.com is no different than any other blogger site out there who catches onto this information. Only difference here is that TVLine sold out to wealthy corporate interests.
That’s mighty decent of you Matt, thank you. I always considered this site to be one of ‘tegridy! Thanks for proving me right and keep up the great work,
Still hoping for terra. She’s iconic.
