APRA AMCOS welcomes two more members of The 1,000,000,000 List in the form of collaborators Troye Sivan and Alex Hope.

The pair are the first inductees for 2020, recognised for a billion streams of their 2015 hit ‘Youth’.

The track is the first single from Sivan’s debut album Blue Neighbourhood. It would go on to reach #1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs, and crack the top 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.

At the 2016 ARIAs, it won Song Of The Year and Best Video, while Hope and Sivan won APRA’s Breakthrough Songwriter back to back in 2016 and 2017.

APRA AMCOS chief executive Deam Ormston presented the awards to the pair, who are both based in LA but made the trip home to Australia.

“This song was the one that absolutely changed my life,” said Sivan, surrounded by his label EMI and publisher UMPA.

“I couldn’t have done anything without a large group of people supporting me,” said Hope, with her team at Sony/ATV Publishing Aus.

Of the achievement, Ormston said; “This award was created because a billion streams is an enormous achievement, an important industry milestone, and one very deserving of acknowledgement in today’s globally competitive music landscape.

“Co-writing is an enormous opportunity for our members, and can open up many doors internationally for Australasian songwriters.”

‘Youth’ was accredited Platinum in Australia, as well as New Zealand. It also went Silver in the UK, 3x Platinum in Ireland and 2x Platinum in the US.

The 1,000,000,000 List takes into account streaming numbers from all major services including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Vevo, Amazon, Google Play and more.

Nat Dunn was the first member of The 1,000,000,000 List, and was joined by Dean LewisStarley & P-Money, Flume, Jason Mason, Ivan Khatchoyan and Lance Ferguson, all inducted in 2019.
