CBS developing limited revival of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
It’s been five years since CBS’ iconic police procedural drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation went off the air and despite having a concluding series finale, the network has reportedly begun development on a limited series revival of the long-running series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

CBS has entered talks with series creator Anthony Zuiker, executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer and the show’s creative team to continue the story in a limited run, with sources reporting that Elementary‘s Jason Tracey will pen the script, which is being described as a celebration of its 20th anniversary on October 6.
The revival is said to return to Las Vegas, where the multi-series franchise started, and is even looking at bringing back members of the original cast, including William Petersen, who led the show for the first 10 seasons as Gil Grissom and returned for the two-hour finale.
During its original run, it was twice named the most-watched TV show in the world, with another CBS procedural NCIS having taken that title, even in its current 17th season. CSI birthed a multi-billion dollar media franchise for the network, which included three spin-offs, comics, video games, novels and more. When the series originally ended in 2015, Zuiker had hoped it could’ve continued versus the two-hour finale and subsequent spin-off CSI: Cyber that saw the continuation of Ted Danson’s D.B. Russell alongside a new team. That spin-off was poorly received by critics and fans alike and was cancelled after only two seasons.
