Meghan Trainor Shares Teaser for Upcoming Song "Mother" Featuring a Dancing Baby Bump Video

Meghan Trainor teased the arrival of her new song, “Mother,” on March 2, with a preview clip posted to YouTube Shorts. The singer, who is expecting her second child, lip-synced to the track and danced in an oversized sweatshirt that read “Mother Up” in the video. Later in the day, she shared an Instagram video of herself dancing to the song while wearing a crop top and cradling her baby bump, with her toddler daughter Riley running in and out of the frame. The poppy song samples the classic track “Mr. Sandman” and includes lyrics like, “I am your mother / You listen to me / Stop all that mansplainin’, no one’s listening / Tell me who gave you the permission to speak / I am your mother / You listen to me.”

The following day, Trainor posted an official #IAmYourMother dance on Instagram, featuring TikTok dance creators Brooke Blewitt and Jess Qualter. The release date for “Mother” has yet to be announced, though Trainor released a song back in 2016 titled “Mom,” as a tribute to her mother Kelli Trainor. Her last album was 2022’s “Takin’ It Back,” and her most recent song, released in the same year, was “Made You Look,” which reached No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to its popularity on TikTok.

Trainor announced her pregnancy back in January and she and her husband Daryl Sabara share their daughter Riley, who turned 2 in February. Trainor also has an upcoming book about pregnancy, birth, and her days as a new mom coming this April titled “Dear Future Mama.” She also made a cameo in the new season of “How I Met Your Mother” as a pregnant woman having a home birth.
