It’s no surprise that Ben Shattuck is an accomplished author and painter. He graduated from Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art, and Planning and went on to attend the University of Iowa’s Iowa Writers’ Workshop. He even taught fiction at the college, as well as at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. Additionally, he lived in Norway to study painting. His works include the memoir “Six Walks” and the short story “History of Sound,” which is being made into a movie starring Josh O’Connor and Paul Mescal. The story is a gay romance about two young men, Lionel and David, who want to travel across America during World War I and document the lives, voices, and music of their countrymen. Ben Shattuck is also the curator for his mother’s gallery, the Dedee Shattuck Gallery.
