Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, recently revealed that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State had opposed him in the recently concluded elections. He expressed his belief that if the real votes had been counted by INEC in Rivers, he would have won more than 50% of the state’s vote. The former Anambra State Governor made this statement on Monday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show program.
Obi also noted that people of various ethnicities from across the country had voted for him on February 25th. He then addressed those who had claimed that the votes he had received in Lagos were mainly from Igbos. “Some people said he got votes in Lagos because of Igbos. How many Igbos live in Lagos? I got more votes from indigenous people in Lagos than those you can call visitors. Is it Igbos who voted for me in Nasarawa, Plateau and Abuja? In Rivers where you know that the governor came out against me in everything if the real votes in Rivers were counted, I won more than 50% in the State,” Obi stated.
