Olasumbo, a Nigerian lady, recently took to social media to share her experience with an okada rider. She had boarded the bike to take her to her destination, but due to the shortage of naira in circulation, she decided to pay him with a transfer. When the okada rider did not receive the credit alert right away, he asked for her number in order not to make her wait. To Olasumbo’s surprise, he sent her a message later in Yoruba asking if he could take her on a date. She blamed the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, and his naira redesign policy which made cash scarce. She wrote: “I took a bike today and did a transfer, the bikeman did not get the alert so he asked for my number so he does not keep me waiting. Bikeman called me this evening and said: mo fe gbe e jade (I want to take you out). Emefiele you do this one.”
