When Angela Johnson and Kyle Chrisley split, Johnson still had shared custody of their daughter Chloe with Todd and Julie Chrisley. However, Johnson was adamant that Kyle should never be involved with Chloe, as he had allegedly hurt her physically while she was pregnant. Johnson claimed that Kyle had “grabbed her and choked her” while she was pregnant, and that he had once come at her with a knife while she was holding Chloe. She also accused him of only wanting Chloe for money. Kyle denied these claims, saying that Johnson was a “mental case” and that he only wanted his daughter.
In 2016, Johnson lost all rights to Chloe when it was discovered that she had been using her status as Chloe’s mother to commit fraud. She had been claiming Chloe as a dependent in order to gain Medicaid benefits and accrue food stamps, even after losing custody. The Chrisley family decided to not address the issue, stating that it did not affect them personally.
