In April 2020, Alyssa Farah Griffin achieved a remarkable milestone in her political career when she was appointed as the White House Director of Strategic Communications. Griffin, a graduate of Patrick Henry College, shared with her former school that the best part of working in the Trump White House was that no two days were ever the same. In her role, she was responsible for both messaging day-of events and announcements, as well as overseeing strategic planning for days and weeks out.
Unfortunately, Griffin’s first challenge was to help shape the message strategy for Warp Speed, the operation designed to find and deliver a vaccination program as quickly as possible, in response to Donald Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic. She later recalled to the January 6 House select committee that she had attempted to prevent Trump from making an unsafe and highly criticized recommendation to inject bleach to combat the virus. Griffin explained that she had gone to Mark Meadows and warned him that it would “blow up in our faces,” but he overruled her.
